Stricter Academic Standards Introduced
The Punjab Education Department has released revised academic guidelines for students enrolled in government colleges across the province, aiming to improve performance and accountability.
Students With Multiple Failures to Face Restrictions
According to the official notification, students who receive an âFâ grade in two or more subjects will no longer qualify for forwarding to the admission board. The department said this move is intended to curb academic underperformance and ensure students demonstrate a minimum level of subject competency.
Fines for Absenteeism During Exams and Tests
The notification also introduces penalties for students missing examinations. A fine of Rs. 200 will be imposed for each missed examination paper, while missing a monthly test will incur a Rs. 100 fine per paper. Absences without a valid medical certificate will be treated as failures.
Mandatory Participation in All Examinations
To reinforce academic discipline, the department has made it compulsory for all students to appear in monthly, December, and pre-board examinations. The new policy will be implemented uniformly across all government colleges in Punjab.
Objective: Enhancing Academic Accountability
Officials believe the updated framework will encourage consistent academic effort and discourage negligence in attendance and performance, fostering a more disciplined learning environment in public-sector colleges.
