ISLAMABAD: A high-level Pakistani delegation is visiting Afghanistan today to hold consultations with Afghan officials on key bilateral issues.
Discussions will focus on border management, trade facilitation, and improving the overall movement system between the two countries.
One Document Regime and Trade Cooperation on Agenda
According to official sources, both sides are expected to discuss the One Document Regime in detail during the meetings.
Talks will aim to streamline cross-border procedures and enhance trade and transport cooperation.
Officials clarified that the visit was pre-planned and unrelated to the recent closure of the Torkham border or ongoing tensions.
Building Confidence and Enhancing Coordination
The Pakistani delegation will engage in multiple rounds of talks with Afghan authorities to promote confidence-building measures.
The discussions are intended to improve coordination and strengthen bilateral mechanisms for security and trade stability.
Recent Ceasefire Agreement and Upcoming Talks
Two days ago, Pakistan and Afghanistan signed a ceasefire agreement in Doha, following several days of conflict along the Durand Line.
Both countries have agreed to continue negotiations, with the next phase scheduled in Istanbul next week.
During the upcoming talks, Pakistan is expected to reiterate its demand that the Taliban regime stop supporting TTP in attacks against the country.
