Maryam Nawaz Reviews Progress on Key Punjab Mega Projects
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the status of several key development projects, including the Nawaz Sharif IT City, Central Business District (CBD), and Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) initiatives.
During the briefing, officials confirmed that the prestigious Imperial College London will establish its first-ever campus in Pakistan at the Nawaz Sharif IT City. The groundbreaking ceremony for the campus is scheduled to take place in November 2025. The project will also include a modern 300-bed teaching hospital, providing both educational and healthcare services.
Chief Minister Orders Acceleration of Development Efforts
Maryam Nawaz emphasized the need for rapid execution of all ongoing and upcoming projects. She instructed officials to submit quarterly progress reports and maintain transparency and efficiency in all stages of development.
Regarding the Ravi River development plan, the chief minister directed authorities to complete the primary river bund before the next flood season. This move aims to reduce the risk of future flooding and ensure the safety of surrounding communities.
The inclusion of a globally renowned institution like Imperial College London is seen as a major milestone for Pakistanโs education and tech sectors, boosting the international credibility of the Nawaz Sharif IT City and contributing to academic excellence and innovation in the region.
