The Sindh government has launched the Benazir Haari Card program to provide financial assistance and fertilisers to farmers, aiming to enhance wheat production and promote agricultural prosperity across the province.
The initiative is designed to ensure food self-sufficiency and empower small-scale farmers by offering them direct support through a transparent and digitalised system.
According to Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon, the Sindh government will allocate Rs55.9 billion under the Benazir Haari Card program. Initially, 400,000 farmers will benefit from the first phase, covering 2.26 million acres of land.
Memon announced that by the end of this month, an additional 50,000 cards will be distributed among eligible farmers to expand the reach of the scheme.
He further explained that the registration process for the Haari Card has already commenced. Farmers who already hold a card have been urged to complete their registration promptly, while new applicants can register by presenting their CNIC and land records.
To maintain complete transparency, the program incorporates biometric verification and digital land checks, ensuring that only genuine beneficiaries receive the support.
Priority will be given to farmers owning between 1 and 25 acres of land. Under the program, each registered farmer will receive one bag of DAP fertiliser and two bags of urea to help boost crop yield and reduce production costs.
Memon emphasized that the Sindh government’s commitment to supporting farmers is central to achieving prosperity and self-sufficiency in the province. “Increased wheat production will lead to food security and economic stability,” he stated.
In the next phase, millions more farmers are expected to be included in the program. Farmers interested in applying for the Benazir Haari Card can visit the official website at benazirhaaricard.pk for registration and further details.
