Teefi Butt Shot Dead in Suspected Inside Hit During Police Transfer
Teefi Butt, a high-profile gangster and prime suspect in the Ameer Balaj murder case, was shot and killed on Saturday morning during an alleged police encounter near Rahim Yar Khan. According to official sources, Butt was gunned down by his own associates while being transported to Lahore for interrogation.
The gangster, whose real name was Khwaja Tareef, had recently been arrested in Dubai through Interpol and extradited to Pakistan. Police had planned to question him further in connection with several violent and organized crime cases across Punjab.
During transit on Ahmedpur Lama Road, two armed attackers believed to be close aides of Teefi Butt ambushed the police convoy and opened fire. The attack killed Butt on the spot, while the shooters escaped before officers could respond.
Major Setback for Punjab’s Criminal Underworld
Teefi Butt was one of Lahore’s most feared underworld figures, with a long-standing reputation for involvement in land grabbing, extortion, and illegal arms trade. He operated an extensive criminal network that spanned across Punjab, often evading law enforcement through strong political and local connections.
His sudden death is being seen as a serious blow to the operations of urban mafia groups, particularly those active in Lahore and other major cities. Security experts suggest the killing may have been orchestrated to silence him and prevent sensitive information from reaching authorities.
Police have launched a manhunt to track down the attackers, while investigations are ongoing to determine whether the ambush was planned in advance or part of a broader internal gang conflict.
