Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Thursday unveiled a major step toward agricultural modernisation by launching the Hi-Tech Farm Mechanisation Financing Programme. The digital portal for the programme has been officially activated, allowing farmers across Punjab to apply for interest-free loans of up to Rs30 million for purchasing advanced agricultural machinery.
Game-Changing Move to Modernise Punjab’s Agriculture
Speaking at the launch ceremony, CM Maryam Nawaz described the initiative as a “revolutionary step” that aims to bring Punjab’s farming sector into a new era of innovation and efficiency.
“This programme will begin a new chapter in Punjab’s agricultural development,” she said. “We are empowering farmers with modern tools so they can boost productivity and profitability.”
According to the Punjab Agriculture Secretary, farmers will be able to obtain interest-free loans for purchasing 12 different types of modern, high-tech agricultural machinery. The loans will feature a six-month grace period, with quarterly repayments spread over five years, making the scheme accessible and sustainable for the farming community.
Eligible applicants include individual farmers, agri service providers, and agricultural companies, all of whom can now apply through the newly launched digital portal, designed for ease and transparency.
Support for Security Forces Recognised
During the event, CM Maryam also took a moment to acknowledge the efforts of Pakistan’s security forces. She paid tribute to their successful operation in Daraban, Dera Ismail Khan, where seven Indian-sponsored militants were neutralised.
She commended the armed forces’ sacrifices for peace and national security, reaffirming her government’s unwavering support for Pakistan’s defenders.
