ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has completed the feasibility study for establishing a state-of-the-art slaughterhouse in Islamabad, marking a major step toward improving the capital’s food infrastructure and supporting meat exports.
The project aims to meet both domestic demand and international quality standards, aligning with the city’s broader development and modernization goals.
Public-Private Partnership to Drive Growth
According to officials, the slaughterhouse will be developed under a Joint Venture (JV) model, reflecting CDA’s strategy to promote private investment and create sustainable revenue streams.
The announcement came during a meeting between CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa and a delegation from Saudi company GO ARAMCO. Senior CDA officials, including Member Planning and Design Dr. Khalid Hafiz, Member Finance Tahir Naeem, and Deputy Director General (Resource), also attended the session.
Chairman Randhawa emphasized that all projects under this initiative will be implemented in line with Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules to maintain transparency, merit, and accountability.
Saudi Delegation Briefed on Investment Opportunities
During the meeting, the ARAMCO delegation received a detailed briefing on ongoing and upcoming CDA-led projects, including infrastructure upgrades, new fuel stations, and urban development sites across Islamabad.
Officials confirmed that multiple sites have been shortlisted for potential investment under the JV framework. Both CDA and GO ARAMCO have established special teams to advance collaboration and practical planning for the upcoming projects.
Commitment to Urban Development and Economic Growth
Chairman Randhawa reaffirmed the CDA’s dedication to improving urban facilities and infrastructure, noting that public-private partnerships are key to accelerating Islamabad’s economic transformation.
He added that the CDA remains focused on enhancing the capital’s development model by engaging international investors and ensuring that projects deliver long-term public benefits.
The modern slaughterhouse is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s meat industry, support export potential, and improve hygiene and efficiency standards in line with global benchmarks.
