The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2025-26 finally got underway on Tuesday, 7 October, after day one was washed out across all venues. However, rain and wet outfields continued to disrupt play, particularly at Imran Khan Stadium in Peshawar, where no toss could take place for the second day in a row.
Danish Aziz and Haroon Arshad Shine in Karachi Blues’ Dominant Stand
At Marghzar Cricket Ground in Islamabad, Karachi Blues were the standout performers of the day, reaching 346 for 5 in 81.3 overs against Faisalabad. The innings was powered by a brilliant unbeaten century from Danish Aziz (116* off 153 balls, 17 fours, 3 sixes) and a maiden first-class hundred by debutant Haroon Arshad (101 off 157 balls, 13 fours).
The pair added a crucial 188-run partnership for the fifth wicket, rescuing Karachi Blues from a shaky 129-4 after Saim Ayub had earlier contributed a fluent 63 off 89 balls with 11 boundaries. Muhammad Ghazi Ghori was unbeaten on 14 alongside Danish when stumps were drawn.
For Faisalabad, Atiq-ur-Rehman, Faham-ul-Haq, Ahmed Safi Abdullah, and Shehzad Gul picked up a wicket each.
Rain Limits Action at Other Venues
In Abbottabad, only 21.3 overs were possible as Bahawalpur reached 76-2, with Mohammad Ammar unbeaten on 30. Israr Hussain claimed 1-8 for Abbottabad.
