Pakistan Railways has announced an increase in ticket fares for train services operating between Lahore and Rawalpindi, with the revision taking effect immediately. The fare hike applies specifically to the Subak Kharam and Subak Raftar railcars, which are among the popular services on this key intercity route.
According to a spokesperson for Pakistan Railways, the price adjustment ranges from Rs. 150 to Rs. 250, depending on the class of travel.
The rail authority emphasized that the fare increase is accompanied by the provision of refreshments to passengers, aiming to enhance the overall travel experience. The move comes as part of Pakistan Railwaysโ ongoing efforts to improve service quality while balancing operational costs.
Under the new fare structure, AC Parlor tickets are now priced at Rs. 2,500, AC Business tickets at Rs. 2,250, AC Standard at Rs. 2,100, and Economy Class at Rs. 1,300. The spokesperson clarified that the revised fares reflect rising operational costs and the addition of passenger amenities, including refreshments during the journey.
The fare increase is expected to affect daily commuters, business travelers, and tourists who frequently use the LahoreโRawalpindi rail link. While the adjustment is modest, the inclusion of added services such as refreshments aims to offset passenger concerns regarding the higher cost.
Pakistan Railways has urged passengers to take note of the updated fare chart before traveling and advised travelers to purchase tickets in advance, especially during peak travel periods.
The rail authority continues to focus on providing safe, efficient, and comfortable services across the national railway network while addressing financial sustainability challenges.
The LahoreโRawalpindi route remains one of the busiest intercity lines in Pakistan, connecting the federal capital with the provincial capital of Punjab. The revised fare structure is part of broader measures by Pakistan Railways to modernize services, enhance passenger experience, and ensure operational efficiency on major routes across the country.
