Palestinian Leadership Open to US-Led Ceasefire Talks
The State of Palestine has welcomed efforts by former U.S. President Donald Trump to help end the ongoing conflict in Gaza. In an official statement, the Palestinian leadership expressed confidence in Washington’s role in brokering a ceasefire and achieving long-term peace in the region.
Palestine also called for an immediate end to land annexation and the forced displacement of its population. The leadership reiterated its readiness to work with the United States and regional partners to pursue a lasting resolution to the crisis.
Key priorities outlined by Palestine include the delivery of humanitarian aid, the release of prisoners and hostages, and measures to protect civilians while ensuring a sustainable ceasefire.
Reform Commitments and Vision for Peace
Reaffirming its commitment to the two-state solution, the Palestinian leadership announced it would conduct presidential and parliamentary elections within one year of the conflict’s resolution. The goal is to establish an independent, sovereign, and democratic Palestinian state.
Further, the leadership pledged to form a modern and demilitarised state with a strong focus on democratic governance. As part of these reforms, the national education system will be aligned with UNESCO standards within two years.
In a significant policy shift, the leadership also confirmed the decision to abolish laws that allocate funds to the families of martyrs and prisoners, signaling a move toward international compliance and transparency.
The statement concluded by reaffirming Palestine’s commitment to peace, diplomacy, and rebuilding efforts in cooperation with the global community.
