ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced an 18-member squad for the two-match home Test series against South Africa. This series, scheduled for October, will launch Pakistan’s new cycle in the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27.
Shan Masood Retains Captaincy
Shan Masood will continue as captain in the longest format of the game. The PCB also introduced three uncapped players — Asif Afridi, Faisal Akram, and Rohail Nazir. This selection demonstrates the board’s commitment to balancing experienced stars with fresh emerging talent.
Squad to Be Finalized Before First Test
According to the PCB, the 18-member squad will be reduced before the first Test begins. Officials emphasized that the final playing group will be selected after careful review of player fitness and recent performances. This strategy ensures Pakistan fields the strongest possible side against South Africa.
