Muniza Basir, the mother of Pakistan’s iconic pop siblings Nazia and Zoheb Hassan, has passed away, as confirmed by Zoheb in an emotional social media post.
Zoheb Hassan Pays Tribute to His Mother
Zoheb Hassan shared the news on Instagram with a heartfelt note and a touching photo collage of his late mother. In his message, he thanked her for giving him unconditional love and unwavering support throughout his life.
“You were a lady known for your strength, intelligence, beauty, and grace,” Zoheb wrote. He added that her legacy of kindness would continue to inspire everyone who knew her.
Although it was difficult for him to accept her absence, Zoheb expressed that her memory would always remain deeply embedded in his heart and mind. “Maybe this is the only way I can hold on to you,” he shared.
Remembering a Mother’s Role
In his moving tribute, Zoheb highlighted how much he would miss their long conversations, her wise advice, and their shared laughter. Calling her his inspiration and guiding light, he ended his note with the words: “RIP. Your Son, Zoheb.”
The Hassan Family’s Losses
Muniza Basir was not only a devoted mother but also a respected social activist, remembered for raising two of Pakistan’s most celebrated music icons. Her daughter, Nazia Hassan, the “Queen of Pop,” tragically died of lung cancer in August 2000 at the young age of 35. Her husband, businessman Basir Hassan, passed away in 2020.
With Muniza Basir’s passing, the family has endured yet another profound loss, leaving behind a legacy tied to Pakistan’s music history and social contribution.
