A peach grown in Crozet, Virginia, has officially broken the Guinness World Record for the heaviest peach ever recorded, weighing in at an astonishing 1.83 pounds (approximately 830 grams). The record-breaking fruit was harvested earlier this month from Chiles Peach Orchard, a well-known family-run farm in the region.
PF-27A Variety Peach Sets Global Record
The peach belongs to a specific cultivar known as PF-27A, a variety prized for its size and flavor. The fruit surpassed the previous world record of 1.8 pounds, securing its place in history after verification by Guinness World Records.
According to the certification, the peach is now officially recognized as the heaviest peach ever documented.
No Intentions to Break Record, Says Orchard Owner
Henry Chiles, owner of Chiles Peach Orchard, told local media that the massive peach was not the result of any special cultivation techniques or intentional record-breaking efforts. Instead, he credited unusually favorable weather conditions this growing season.
“We didn’t do anything extraordinary to make this happen. Sometimes nature surprises you in the best way,” Chiles said.
The orchard has long been a popular destination for fruit picking and agritourism, but the record-breaking peach has drawn newfound attention, adding a unique highlight to the farm’s legacy.
