Islamabad / Tokyo — Pakistan’s javelin ace Arshad Nadeem has issued an emotional statement after failing to qualify for the men’s javelin final at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. He attributed his sub‑par performance to an injury that he says has affected his preparation and overall fitness.
Injury Halts Momentum
“Dear Pakistanis, I want to thank each and every one of you for your unwavering support and love throughout the World Athletics Championships,” Nadeem began in a post on X. While he said he’s proud to have represented his country on the world stage, he also admitted disappointment in not achieving the result he had hoped for. “To be honest, I’ve been dealing with an injury since July 4th, which affected my preparation and fitness level,” he revealed. Nadeem said despite the setback, he “gave it his all” and valued the experience.
Performance, Results & Promise to Fans
On competition day, Nadeem opened with a throw of 82.73 metres, followed by a foul on his second attempt. His third throw measured 82.75m, and his fourth was again ruled a foul — these results fell short of the mark needed to secure further attempts in the final. The defeat also marked the end of Pakistan’s medal hopes in the event.
In closing his message, Nadeem pledged to return with greater strength and dedication. “I know I let you all down, but I promise to come back stronger and work even harder to make you proud,” he wrote. He thanked fans for their encouragement and pledged continuous effort in future competitions.
Arshad’s vulnerability in acknowledging his injury and detailing its impact highlights both the physical toll of top‑level athletics and the high expectations placed on elite competitors. As supporters take in his honest reflection, many will likely find in his resolve a reason to believe in his future successes.
