  • Shangla man held for assaulting physically-challenged girl

An official of Bisham police station said the victim lodged an FIR, stating that her neighbor identified as Arshad Ali had assaulted her the other day. She said the accused also threatened her father of consequences if he approached the police.

  • CM removes board official for helping son in examination in Malakand

A video showing the official’s son solving paper sitting in a room locked from outside went viral on social media.

The video allegedly shot by local media persons shows the boy solving the Chemistry paper with the help of a book and other cheating material.

In exercise of powers conferred upon him under relevant laws, the chief minister has removed Controller of Examinations (BS-18), BISE Malakand, and repatriated him to the elementary and secondary education department for further necessary action as per law,” according to a notification issued by the education department.

  • Balochistan’s progress is top priority, Tarin tells Shahzain

Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin informed Mr. Shazain Bugti, Special Assistant to PM on Harmony and Stability of Balochistan, that the development of the province was a top priority of the federal government, which was also working to provide better employment opportunities to the youth of Balochistan.

The finance minister assured Mr. Bugti of full support and cooperation from the federal government in every possible way for the progress and development of Balochistan.

  • Rawalpindi Ring Road scam: ACE arrests former commissioner, land acquisition collector

ACE Director General (DG) Gohar Nafees, addressing a press conference, said a case was registered against the former commissioner and director of Rawalpindi ring road project and land acquisition collector after holding a detailed inquiry.

He said neither approval was sought from Punjab chief minister for alignment of the ring road, nor any no-objection certificates (NOCs) were taken from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the National Highway Authority (NHA).

  • Six more localities sealed in Islamabad as Covid-19 cases surge

The capital administration on Wednesday sealed six more localities to prevent the spread of Covid-19. A notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Hamza Shafqaat said six streets – one each in Media Town, Bahria Town, River Garden, E-7, Korang Town, and Jhangi Syedan – have been sealed till further orders.

  • Former president Mamnoon Hussain passes away in Karachi

Former president of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain passed away on Wednesday in Karachi, his son Arsalan Mamnoon confirmed. He was 80 years of age.

Hussain was suffering from cancer and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital for the last two weeks, his son said.

Hussain was the 12th president of Pakistan, who served from 2013 to 2018 during the tenure of the PML-N.  He was one of the most senior PML-N leaders.

  • Over 300 Afghans flee into Tajikistan as Taliban advances

State information agency Khovar, citing a border guard report, said the refugees had “fled from the Taliban to save their lives,” adding that two babies died during the border crossing.

The militants in recent weeks have brought huge swathes of the country under their control as foreign troop’s drawdown, including Afghanistan´s main Shir Khan Bandar border crossing with Tajikistan.

  • ICC changes points system for second edition of WTC

The International Cricket Council on Wednesday said it has changed its points system ahead of the second edition of the World Test Championship (WTC) after receiving feedback that it needed to be “simplified”.

The sport’s global governing body (ICC) said teams will be awarded 12 points for every match victory, four for a draw, and six in the event of a tie, with the percentage of points won used to determine the standings.

Previously, the same number of points were allocated to each series, divided across the number of matches played.
