Pakistan Co-Sponsors Summit to Address Israeli Aggression
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to travel to Doha, Qatar, to participate in the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit on Monday, a high-level gathering convened in response to Israel’s intensified military actions in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories. The summit is co-sponsored by Pakistan, reflecting the country’s active diplomatic role in the region and its commitment to the Palestinian cause.
The extraordinary summit, organized under the framework of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), comes amid escalating tensions, including Israeli airstrikes on Doha, settlement expansions in the West Bank, and increasing reports of forced displacement of Palestinians. The event aims to unify the Muslim world’s stance on the unfolding crisis and present a collective call for an immediate ceasefire and the protection of Palestinian civilians.
According to official sources, Heads of State, Governments, and senior delegates from OIC member countries will be present, making the summit a significant platform for coordinated diplomatic action.
Pakistan Reaffirms Support for Qatar and Regional Peace
Ahead of the main summit, a preparatory meeting of the Foreign Ministers is scheduled for Sunday, where Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar will represent Pakistan. Discussions will focus on building consensus and drafting the final declaration for the emergency session.
The Prime Minister’s visit follows his earlier trip to Doha on the 11th of this month, where he met with Qatari leaders to express Pakistan’s solidarity with Qatar and its unequivocal condemnation of Israeli aggression. During the visit, PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for Qatar’s sovereignty and regional peace, calling for stronger unity among Muslim nations in the face of mounting regional challenges.
Pakistan continues to emphasize the importance of peaceful resolution through dialogue and international cooperation and has called for urgent global attention to Israel’s actions in Gaza and the broader Middle East.
