PM Shehbaz, COAS Asim Munir, top officials pay tribute to fallen hero; Major Adnan laid to rest with full military honours.
RAWALPINDI: Funeral prayers for Major Adnan Aslam, who embraced martyrdom following a terrorist attack in Bannu, were offered with full military honours at Chaklala Garrison in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
The solemn ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal General Syed Asim Munir, along with senior civil and military officials and members of the martyr’s family.
According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major Adnan sustained critical injuries on September 2 in a cowardly attack by terrorists—referred to as Khawarij—during an operation in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Despite being under intensive care at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Rawalpindi, he succumbed to his wounds.
A Tribute to Courage and Sacrifice
ISPR praised Major Adnan for displaying remarkable bravery and leadership under fire, noting that he stood firm in the line of duty and upheld the highest traditions of the Pakistan Army. He was later laid to rest in his native town, with full military honours, as a mark of respect for his ultimate sacrifice.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid glowing tribute to the fallen officer, stating:
“The nation has lost a courageous son. Major Adnan’s bravery and sacrifice will be remembered forever. He embodied the spirit of patriotism, unwavering dedication, and the armed forces’ unrelenting resolve to root out terrorism.”
He added that the martyr’s legacy will live on in the hearts of the Pakistani people, serving as a symbol of national pride and resilience.
