Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in his capacity as patron of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has appointed former bureaucrat Mansoor Qadir as the board’s election commissioner.
Shortly after his appointment, Qadir met PCB Chairman Syed Mohsin Naqvi. During the meeting, he outlined his role and assured the chairman of his commitment. Mohsin Naqvi welcomed the appointment and expressed confidence that Qadir would conduct his duties with diligence and transparency.
The new commissioner’s task will be central in ensuring fair and smooth elections within the PCB. His experience as a bureaucrat is expected to bring stability and administrative discipline to the board’s election process.
Separately, on the cricketing front, Pakistan secured victory in the final of the tri-nation T20 series against Afghanistan at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Pakistan T20I captain Salman Ali Agha praised all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz for his standout performance, which proved crucial in dismantling Afghanistan’s batting order.
Speaking after the win, Agha highlighted Nawaz’s contribution as a decisive factor in Pakistan’s success. He added that the team feels confident and fully prepared for the upcoming Asia Cup. Agha further explained that the decision to include two spinners in the match was a tactical choice made after assessing the playing conditions in Sharjah.
With strong leadership in the PCB and solid performances on the field, Pakistan cricket looks set for an important season ahead. While Mansoor Qadir focuses on the administrative side, the national team continues to sharpen its game for major tournaments.
