Boost to Domestic Energy Security as Production Estimates Released
Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) announced a significant oil and gas discovery in Punjab’s Attock district on Thursday, marking a promising development for the country’s energy sector.
The discovery was made at the Dhok Sultan-3 well, where initial testing indicates a production capacity of approximately 1,469 barrels of crude oil per day and 2.56 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of natural gas.
In its official statement, PPL said the new reserves could play a vital role in strengthening domestic energy resources, potentially easing the country’s reliance on expensive fuel imports and contributing to national energy security.
Experts and government officials have welcomed the find as a step forward in energy self-sufficiency, particularly at a time when Pakistan faces rising energy costs and a persistent trade deficit.
