ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad court has handed over Hassan Zahid, the key accused in the abduction attempt of social media influencer Samiya Hijab, to police on a five-day physical remand. The decision came after the registration of a second case against Zahid, who had earlier secured bail in the first FIR lodged on Sunday.
According to the court order, Zahid faces serious allegations, including harassment, assault, abduction, and threats to life, filed on the complaint of Samiya Hijab, a well-known TikTok personality based in Islamabad.
Incident and Arrest
Two days earlier, Samiya Hijab accused Zahid of attempting to abduct her outside her home. In a video message posted on Instagram, she revealed that Zahid, whom she identified as a resident of Lahore, had been harassing her for months, threatening her with demands to marry him.
The influencer claimed the suspect grabbed her phone and tried to force her into his car. Referring to the tragic case of TikToker Sana, who was murdered earlier this year after rejecting a proposal, Hijab expressed fear for her life, stating: “I do not want to become Sana.”
Her plea prompted swift action by the Islamabad Capital Police, who arrested Zahid within 24 hours of the incident.
Investigation and Evidence
Police officials informed the court that investigators still need to recover the weapon used to threaten Hijab, two vehicles allegedly linked to the crime, a mobile phone, and Rs45,000 cash stolen from the influencer.
Hijab later confirmed she underwent a medical examination, which validated evidence of physical assault. She also reported receiving fresh death threats from Zahid even after his arrest. “Check the audacity of this man — this morning he threatened again to kill me if I did not withdraw the FIR,” she said in a follow-up video.
Call for Justice
While praising the swift action of Inspector General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi and Shalimar police officials, Hijab urged the courts to ensure Zahid faces an exemplary punishment. “Before anyone dares cast their eyes upon a sister or daughter, they should think 10,000 times,” she remarked, vowing to raise her voice not only for herself but for every girl feeling unsafe.
