If you’re terrified of clowns, you may want to brace yourself, because FANGORIA has unveiled the official trailer for Helloween, an upcoming horror thriller that resurrects the unsettling memory of the infamous 2016 killer clown craze.
That was the year when clown sightings caused widespread panic across neighborhoods, leaving many too afraid to step outside at night, unsure if they’d encounter someone in a grotesque circus mask lurking in the shadows.
Written and directed by Phil Claydon, Helloween promises to revisit that eerie cultural phenomenon with a chilling cinematic twist. The film stars Jeanine Nerissa Sothcott, Michael Paré, and Ronan Summers, with production handled by Shogun Films.
Set during the height of the 2016 craze, the story unfolds in a world where chaos grips the streets, fueled by relentless media coverage that amplifies fear and hysteria. At the center of the narrative is psychiatrist Dr. Ellen Marks, who works in a high-security psychiatric facility that houses one of the most dangerous criminals imaginable: Carl Cane, a notorious child serial killer with a violent past.
Dr. Marks finds herself drawn into the sinister undercurrent of the clown uprising. Determined to discover the root of the mass hysteria, she partners with American investigative journalist John Parker.
Together, they attempt to unravel whether the bizarre outbreak of violence is merely a social phenomenon or something more orchestrated. As Marks delves deeper, she begins to suspect the horrifying possibility that Cane himself may be manipulating the chaos from behind bars.
Events spiral out of control when Cane executes a brutal escape from the institution, unleashing his malevolent influence directly into the world outside. Dr. Marks must confront her deepest fears in a desperate fight to protect her daughters, who have become targets of the killer’s vengeful wrath.
In addition to its theatrical run, Helloween will receive a special Blu-ray release on October 13, packed with deleted scenes, a behind-the-scenes featurette, and a director’s commentary by Claydon. The film arrives in UK theaters on September 29 and debuts in the US on September 5. Horror fans can now get a first taste of the terror with the exclusive trailer.
