A member of the infamous Lawrence Bishnoi gang has issued a chilling threat targeting actors, producers, and directors who collaborate with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. This threat comes just a day after a shooting incident outside comedian Kapil Sharma’s recently launched Kap’s Café in Surrey, Canada, marking the second such attack at the venue in under a month.
In an audio message circulating widely online and reported by India Today, a man identifying himself as Harry Boxer claimed responsibility for the shooting. He warned that “any producer, director or actor who works with Salman Khan will be shot.”
Boxer made it clear that the gang would go to any lengths to target “small-time producers, directors and actors” associated with the Sultan star, cautioning that those who collaborate with Khan would “be responsible for their own life.”
The shooting outside Kap’s Café on Thursday caused no injuries, but the building was riddled with bullet holes. This incident follows a previous attack on the same café on July 10. The threats and violence come in the wake of Salman Khan’s appearance on the premiere episode of the third season of Kapil Sharma’s Netflix show, which debuted on June 21.
The Bishnoi gang has long kept Khan under scrutiny, dating back to his 1998 blackbuck hunting case during the filming of Hum Saath Saath Hain. The Bishnoi community reveres blackbucks as sacred, and Khan has been under tight security since a firing incident outside his Mumbai home in April 2024, which led to the arrest of two gang members.
Harry Boxer, originally from Rajasthan with two pending criminal cases, is believed to have immigrated illegally to the United States in 2014. He has been linked with the Bishnoi gang’s US operations, reportedly maintaining close contact with Bishnoi’s brother, Anmol Bishnoi, and is involved in extortion calls to India, according to NDTV.
Following the shooting, Kap’s Café shared a statement on Instagram expressing their shock and grief, stating their commitment to their dream of creating a warm and friendly community space through their café. The message, which has since been removed, highlighted how the violence was a heartbreaking disruption to their vision.
Adding to the complexity of the situation, another group, Babbar Khalsa International, a banned terror outfit, claimed responsibility for the attack through one of its operatives, Harjeet Singh Laddi (known as Laddi Khalistani). They said the attack was retaliation for remarks about the attire of Nihang Sikhs made during Sharma’s show.
The escalating violence has intensified calls in Canada to designate the Lawrence Bishnoi gang as a terrorist organization. The gang has been linked to numerous murders, extortion, and other criminal activities within the country, raising alarm among law enforcement and the public alike.
