Muhammad Sudais Khan, a 17-year-old student from rural Charsadda in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has become a beacon of determination and resilience after scoring an impressive 890 marks in his matriculation exams — using only one functional toe.
Born with a severe disability that left both his hands and one foot non-functional, Sudais’s path to education was filled with immense challenges. Yet, against all odds, he not only appeared for his exams under the Peshawar Board but excelled, leaving his community and teachers in awe.
“I never imagined so much appreciation,” Sudais told Dawn.com today. He credited his public school and friends for creating an inclusive environment. “They never let me feel like I was different,” he said.
Despite having to write each exam answer using just the toe of his left foot, Sudais never allowed his disability to limit his ambitions. His story is now inspiring thousands across KP and beyond.
A Journey of Grit and Support
Mobility proved to be one of the biggest hurdles. Sudais’s school was nearly 7–8 kilometers from his home, and with limited transportation resources, getting there daily was a constant struggle.
His father, Muhammad Nawaz Khan, who drives a Qingqi rickshaw, described the daily routine: “Every morning, I took him to school myself. His education was always the priority.”
Sudais’s mother, overwhelmed with pride, told him: “Despite all your barriers, I always believed the world would come to know your name.”
Recognition and Rewards
Following his remarkable achievement, Sudais has been widely celebrated. Peshawar Division Commissioner Riaz Mehsood invited the young student and his family to Peshawar on August 2, presenting him with cash rewards and certificates.
“This is a huge success,” said Mehsood. “Despite having a disability in one hand and a foot, Sudais has shown what real determination looks like. We will continue to support him in his educational journey.”
MPA Laik Muhammad Khan also recognized Sudais’s perseverance, awarding him Rs50,000 and praising him as a role model: “More children will be inspired by his story.”
Sudais’s biology teacher, Abdullah Jan, called him “an example for the world,” highlighting the powerful impact one student’s willpower can have on an entire community.

As Charsadda celebrates one of its brightest young stars, Sudais stands as a symbol of unwavering courage. His story is a reminder that physical limitations can never overpower human will, especially when met with opportunity, family support, and inner strength.
