TikTok has launched a new search guide in Pakistan to provide users with reliable and timely information amid the ongoing monsoon floods.
The initiative is part of TikTok’s broader efforts to enhance user safety and curb the spread of misinformation during natural disasters. The guide aims to direct users to verified content when they search for flood-related updates on the platform.
Now, when users in Pakistan search for flood-related terms, they will see a prominent banner encouraging them to verify information through credible sources. The guide links directly to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), allowing users to access official updates on the evolving flood situation.
In addition, the search guide connects users with TikTok’s Safety Center and includes a direct link to its Tragic Event Support resource. This support hub provides practical advice for individuals affected by distressing situations, including information on mental health services and guidance on how to share or report sensitive content responsibly.
The platform defines tragic events as situations ranging from natural disasters to personal loss and aims to equip users with the tools to navigate such crises with care and awareness. Tormenting rains and flash floods have caused an immense loss in Pakistan, including casualties of around 300 people nationwide.
