Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza participated in the 17th International Defence Industry Fair (IDEF) held in Istanbul as part of his official visit to Turkiye. The event is one of the region’s premier platforms for showcasing advanced defence technologies and fostering international collaboration.
During his visit, General Mirza engaged in a series of high-level meetings with top military officials from Turkiye and Azerbaijan. These included discussions with Turkish Defence Minister Gen (Retd) Yasar Guler, Chief of the Turkish General Staff General Metin Gürak, Azerbaijani Defence Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, and Deputy Defence Minister Gurbanov Ağl Salim Oğlu.
Talks Focus on Regional Security, Defence Collaboration, and Strategic Partnerships
According to a statement released by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meetings covered a broad spectrum of defence and security issues. These included bilateral military cooperation, counter-terrorism efforts, regional strategic developments, and evolving security threats in light of global technological advancements.
The participating officials reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing strategic ties and building deeper military collaboration between Pakistan, Turkiye, and Azerbaijan. They also recognized the importance of mutual defence cooperation in maintaining regional peace and stability.
The engagements underscored the growing importance of trilateral defence relationships in a rapidly changing geo-political landscape. Gen Mirza’s visit reflects Pakistan’s continued emphasis on strengthening regional alliances and adapting its military partnerships to meet new global challenges.
