LONDON: A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) contingent has arrived in the United Kingdom to participate in the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) 2025, one of the world’s largest and most prestigious military airshows, taking place from July 18 to 20 at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire.
PAF Highlights Advanced Capabilities with JF-17 Thunder Block-III
According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the PAF team is showcasing the JF-17 Thunder Block-III, Pakistan’s indigenously developed 4.5-generation multi-role fighter jet, alongside a C-130 Hercules transport aircraft.
“PAF’s participation at RIAT underscores its professional excellence, operational capabilities, and the strength of Pakistan’s indigenous aviation industry,” the ISPR stated.
Air-to-Air Refuelling Demonstration En Route to the UK
Adding strategic value to the deployment, PAF JF-17 Block-III jets successfully executed in-flight refuelling operations using an IL-78 aerial tanker, highlighting the force’s long-range operational capabilities and high-level coordination between air and ground crews.
JF-17 Block-III: Cutting-Edge Features and Global Recognition
The JF-17 Block-III is equipped with an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar, Beyond Visual Range (BVR) missiles, and is capable of executing a wide range of combat and tactical missions. It is a testament to Pakistan’s evolving defence technology and growing self-reliance in the aviation sector.
“The aircraft strengthens Pakistan’s national security by addressing modern aerial warfare challenges,” the ISPR noted.
Global Enthusiasm Builds Amid Regional Tensions
The appearance of JF-17 Thunder Block-III at RIAT 2025 has garnered international attention, especially in the wake of recent Pakistan-India tensions. Defence analysts and aviation enthusiasts in the UK and beyond are keenly anticipating the aircraft’s performance at the event.
“Its combat-proven capabilities make the JF-17 one of the most anticipated attractions at this year’s airshow,” the statement concluded.
