ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to enhance bilateral collaboration in security, immigration, and counter-narcotics efforts.
During his official visit, Naqvi was warmly welcomed at the UAE Ministry of Interior, where he received a guard of honour and was introduced to senior ministry officials before holding in-depth discussions on pressing bilateral matters.
A key focus of the meeting was easing visa-related challenges faced by Pakistani citizens, particularly concerning work permits. “We want Pakistani citizens to come to the UAE with ease. Relaxation in visa policies will bring great relief,” Naqvi emphasized.
In response, the UAE Deputy Prime Minister assured Pakistan of full support in resolving visa-related issues.
The ministers also explored ways to deepen cooperation in combating drug trafficking, smuggling, and illegal immigration. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the longstanding and friendly ties between the two nations, with a pledge to expand collaboration across multiple sectors.
As part of his visit, Naqvi toured the Abu Dhabi Police’s advanced policing and operations center. He was briefed on the city’s cutting-edge surveillance and crime-prevention technologies and expressed interest in replicating similar systems in Pakistan to enhance public safety.
Naqvi concluded by describing the UAE-Pakistan relationship as a “national asset” and reiterated Pakistan’s strong desire to expand cooperation, especially in the areas of security and public welfare.
