A 30-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh, India, has filed a police complaint against her husband, accusing him of interfering with her work as a social media content creator and causing a decline in her Instagram following.
The woman, identified as Nisha, alleged that her husband, Vijender, was pressuring her to prioritize household duties over her digital career, leaving her little time to create content.
She claimed her husband’s persistent demands were disrupting her ability to maintain a consistent online presence.
In her complaint, Nisha stated that she regularly posts two Instagram reels a day, but her husband’s actions were negatively impacting her reach and engagement. “His interference is unreasonable and is directly affecting my work and visibility on Instagram,” she said.
The situation escalated when Nisha left her in-laws’ home and returned to her parents. She then approached the local police, accusing her husband of restricting her ‘digital freedom’ and limiting her ability to pursue content creation professionally.
Local police confirmed receiving the complaint and noted that a preliminary investigation is underway. No formal charges have been filed as of yet.
