ISLAMABAD: The US dollar continued its upward trend in the currency markets on Monday.
According to currency dealers, the dollar appreciated by 23 paisas in the interbank market, reaching Rs284.20, after a gap of nearly two years. For over a year, dollar-rupee exchange rate remained stable, below Rs 280.
However, the renewed surge in the value of the US dollar seems to be an outcome of the government’s deal with the IMF for the current budgetary year, 2025-26.
In the open market, the dollar-rupee parity increased to Rs 286.65 with a gain of 25 paisas today.
