Neelum Valley Accident
A heart-wrenching accident occurred in the Chilhana area of Neelum Valley, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, claiming the lives of six individuals, including five women, after a vehicle veered off the mountainous road and plunged thousands of feet into the fast-flowing Neelum River.
According to the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Neelum, the tragic incident took place when the vehicle, traveling through the narrow and winding roads of the scenic yet treacherous valley, lost control and tumbled down the steep slope before crashing into the river below. The impact was devastating, leaving no chance of survival for the passengers onboard.
Eyewitnesses from nearby villages rushed to the site and immediately alerted authorities. Police and rescue teams were dispatched without delay, launching an emergency operation in coordination with local residents.
Despite the challenging terrain and dangerous river currents, the rescue teams worked tirelessly to retrieve the bodies from the wreckage and the river.
The operation continued for several hours under harsh conditions, demonstrating the resilience and cooperation between official agencies and the local community.
