Nobel Peace Prize
U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly declared himself the most deserving candidate for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize, asserting that his administration’s decisive foreign policy actions have averted multiple international conflicts and strengthened global peace.
Speaking at a National Day event in Iowa, President Trump told a packed audience that his leadership was responsible for halting wars between at least five nations.
He specifically pointed to his administrationโs intervention in preventing a potential nuclear showdown between Pakistan and Indiaโa crisis that, according to Trump, could have escalated into a devastating regional war. He also took credit for facilitating peace between Kosovo and Serbia, a long-standing conflict that has plagued the Balkans for decades.
In a particularly bold claim, Trump said that U.S. efforts under his presidency had ended the prolonged conflict between Congo and Rwandaโa war he stated had claimed six million lives over several years. He did not elaborate on the specific mechanisms of U.S. intervention in that case but insisted that American diplomacy played a central role in ending the bloodshed.
Expressing strong dissatisfaction with the Nobel Peace Prize selection process, Trump criticized the committee for often awarding the prize to obscure academics or โunknown school professors,โ as he put it, rather than to world leaders who have delivered concrete results on the global stage.
Trump also highlighted his administrationโs handling of Iran, claiming that its nuclear program had been effectively neutralized during his tenure. He cited a U.S. military operation in which fighter jets flew non-stop for 37 hours, showcasing what he described as โunmatched American strength.โ
Domestically, Trump announced the implementation of what he called the most ambitious border security measures in American history. He said a new bill would effectively end illegal immigration and revealed that his administration had initiated the largest deportation operation ever undertaken by the U.S. government.
Turning to the economy, the President pointed to record highs in the stock market and vowed to push the U.S. economy to even greater heights. โWeโre making America strong, safe, and great again,โ he said.
Notably, Trumpโs name has already been submitted for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize by a Republican member of Congress, specifically for his role in brokering the Israel-Iran ceasefire earlier this year.
Adding further weight to his candidacy, the government of Pakistan has officially endorsed his nomination, citing his mediation during the Pakistan-India crisis and sending a letter of recommendation to the Norwegian Nobel Committee.
Trumpโs self-assured remarks suggest he views the Nobel Peace Prize not just as a possibility, but as a deserved recognition of what he sees as an unparalleled record of international diplomacy and national leadership.
