ABU DHABI: Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Mutual Exemption of Entry Visa Requirements during the 12th session of the Pakistan-UAE Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) held in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
The meeting, co-chaired by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, reviewed the full scope of bilateral ties and agreed to a series of measures to enhance cooperation in trade, banking, investment, and other sectors, according to state-run APP.
Ahead of the main session, a working group convened under Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa and UAE Minister of State Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh.
Key agreements reached include:
- MoUs on Mutual Exemption of Entry Visa Requirements and the Formation of a Joint Investment Promotion Task Force
- An agreement on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy
- A protocol to establish follow-up actions, inter-ministerial coordination, and facilitation of reciprocal visits
The JMC also endorsed enhanced cooperation across culture, aviation, railways, energy, food security, climate change, defence, healthcare, manpower, higher education, and information technology.
The discussions—described by both delegations as conducted in an atmosphere of brotherhood and mutual understanding—included exchanges on regional and global developments, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to regional peace and stability.
The session concluded with both parties expressing satisfaction with the outcomes and announcing that the 13th JMC session will take place in Pakistan at a mutually agreed date.
This progress marks a significant milestone in the deep-rooted and multifaceted partnership between Pakistan and the UAE, reinforcing their shared vision of a dynamic and forward-looking relationship.
