KARACHI, June 25 — Abdul Basit, the son of Balochistan Assembly member Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, has gone missing in Karachi under mysterious circumstances, sparking concern and a swift response from authorities.
According to family members, Basit, a student at a religious seminary in the Saudabad area of Malir, was last seen on Monday evening. He had reportedly left the seminary to visit his uncle in Manghopir but never arrived — and has not returned since.
The disappearance has alarmed the family, who say this is completely out of character for the young student.
As of now, police officials say no formal First Information Report (FIR) has been filed, but they are in close contact with the family and have begun efforts to trace Basit’s whereabouts.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident and directed the Inspector General of Police to submit a detailed report. Authorities are currently treating the case as a suspected abduction, though investigations are ongoing.
The incident has triggered growing concern among political circles in Balochistan and Karachi, as well as among the general public, who are calling for swift action to locate the missing boy.
