Harassment Allegations
A visiting lecturer at the Islamia University of Bahawalpurโs Department of Software Engineering has been formally accused of sexually harassing a female student in exchange for academic favors, triggering immediate action from university authorities as well as law enforcement agencies.
The serious allegations have sparked an official investigation, highlighting the universityโs commitment to addressing harassment and ensuring a safe educational environment.
According to a notification released by the university administration, the accused lecturer has been banned from entering the university premises pending the outcome of the ongoing inquiry.
The institutionโs Anti-Harassment Committee has taken the lead in conducting a formal probe into the incident, assuring the public and the university community that the matter will be handled transparently and in strict accordance with both the law and the universityโs internal policies.
Local police have confirmed that a formal complaint has been registered against the accused at Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Police Station. The complaint, submitted in writing by the student, alleges that the lecturer deliberately failed her in an examination and subsequently made inappropriate demands.
The student stated that the lecturer offered to pass her only if she agreed to visit him at his residence, where she alleges she was molested and harassed.
Furthermore, the student claimed that after she refused to comply with the lecturerโs advances, he demanded a sum of Rs50,000 as a bribe in exchange for clearing her exam. These disturbing details have intensified calls for justice and accountability from both the university and the wider community.
Police officials emphasized that a thorough and transparent investigation is underway, promising to scrutinize all legal aspects related to the case to ensure justice is delivered.
