Iran’s Strike
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has voiced deep concern regarding Iran’s recent missile attack on the US military base located in Qatar, emphasizing the urgent need for de-escalation and the restoration of peace across the troubled Middle East region.
In a show of solidarity with Qatar, the prime minister engaged in a telephonic conversation with Qatar’s ambassador to Pakistan, Ali Mubarak Ali Essa Al-Khater, assuring him of Pakistan’s support during this challenging time.
The Qatari ambassador expressed gratitude for the prime minister’s prompt outreach, acknowledging the significance of Pakistan’s timely response following such an unfortunate and destabilizing incident. This dialogue reflects the close diplomatic ties between the two countries and Pakistan’s commitment to fostering stability in the Gulf.
In addition to his discussion with Qatar’s envoy, Prime Minister Shehbaz also held a separate telephonic call with Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Al Malkiy.
During this conversation, the prime minister reiterated the critical importance of defusing tensions in the Middle East. He assured that Pakistan remains steadfast in its efforts to collaborate with Saudi Arabia to intensify peace initiatives aimed at resolving ongoing conflicts.
The Saudi ambassador welcomed Pakistan’s engagement and stressed the necessity of continued cooperation between the two nations to work toward an early and peaceful resolution of the escalating crisis. Both sides agreed on the importance of close coordination to preserve regional peace and security.
The missile attack, launched by Iran on the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, represents a significant escalation in the region.
This military facility is the largest American base in the Middle East and a crucial strategic asset for US operations. Iran’s military described the strike as “devastating and powerful,” underscoring Tehran’s willingness to escalate the conflict further.
This attack follows a series of recent tensions, notably Iran’s threats of retaliation against the United States after US airstrikes targeted several underground nuclear facilities in Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz.
The US, in support of Israel’s ongoing military campaign against Iran, conducted these strikes in response to what it described as Iran’s breach of international nuclear agreements. The situation remains volatile, with diplomatic efforts underway to prevent further escalation and maintain stability in the region.
