In a dramatic escalation of hostilities, Iran has launched dozens of ballistic missiles deep into Israeli territory, hitting at least 14 strategic military and industrial sites, according to Iranian military sources.
Among the targeted locations was a power plant in southern Israel, which reportedly led to widespread electricity outages affecting multiple towns, as confirmed by both Iranian and Israeli reports.
The missile barrage triggered loud explosions heard across multiple Israeli cities, and air-raid sirens sounded for approximately 35 minutes, marking the longest continuous alarm since the start of the current conflict. Many residents took shelter in official bunkers as warnings blared.
Iranian officials described the strikes as a legitimate act of self-defence, saying they were aimed at responding firmly to recent Israeli airstrikes on sensitive sites within Iran.
The missile campaign followed Israeli operations that heavily bombed Iranโs Fordow nuclear facility, reportedly causing significant structural damage, as well as attacks on Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran and the state TV headquartersโan act that Iranian leaders condemned as a violation of international law.
In response, Iranian authorities issued a stern warning, declaring they would defend their national sovereignty by any means necessary, amid a tense and rapidly evolving regional situation.
