Israel has claimed responsibility for airstrikes on at least six airports across Iran, targeting key aviation infrastructure and military aircraft, according to a report by Al Jazeera.
In a statement posted on its official Hebrew-language account on X (formerly Twitter), the Israeli military said the strikes hit airports located in Tehran (Mehrabad), Mashhad, and Dezful, as well as several others in Iran’s western, eastern, and central regions.
The statement said remotely-operated aircraft were used to destroy 15 Iranian military aircraft and helicopters, including F-14, F-5, and AH-1 Cobra models.
“The strikes damaged runways, underground bunkers, a refueling aircraft, and multiple military planes belonging to the Iranian regime,” the Israeli military claimed.
It further stated that the operation “disrupted the ability to launch flights from these airports” and temporarily disabled the Iranian army’s air capabilities from the targeted sites.
The extent of the damage and Iran’s official response had not been independently verified at the time of reporting.
