Defense Minister Israel Katz announced today that Israeli fighter jets destroyed Iran’s internal security headquarters in Tehran, marking a significant escalation on the sixth day of open conflict between the two nations. The strikes come as the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) continue widespread aerial operations across Iran and as thousands of residents flee the Iranian capital.
“The headquarters of the Iranian regime’s internal security — the primary instrument of the Ayatollah’s domestic repression — has been destroyed,” Katz declared. “As promised, we will keep targeting the symbols of Iran’s power and strike the regime wherever necessary.”
While Israeli leadership has expressed openness to a regime change in Tehran, officials emphasized that the core objective of the offensive remains the dismantling of Iran’s nuclear and missile infrastructure.
Earlier on Wednesday, the IDF reported a large-scale aerial assault involving around 25 fighter jets that struck 40 Iranian military targets in western Iran. The strikes targeted missile systems aimed at Israel, storage facilities, and personnel.
Later that night, the Israeli military launched a second, more extensive wave involving 60 fighter jets. According to the IDF, the strikes hit key components of Iran’s nuclear weapons development — including weapons production centers, centrifuge manufacturing sites, and research facilities.
The sustained aerial offensive represents one of the most intense Israeli military operations against Iran to date, as regional tensions spiral and international concern mounts.
