FAISALABAD/ISLAMABAD: In a tragic incident on Tuesday, a newly married couple took their own lives by lying on railway tracks near the Bhai Wala crossing in Faisalabad.
The victims, identified as Sajid and Razia, had been married for just three months. Police reports indicate that the couple deliberately lay in front of the Badar Express train, ending their lives in a joint act of despair.
Emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene after being alerted and transported the bodies to Allied Hospital Faisalabad for further procedures.
Residents of Adeel Town, Sajid was employed at a local power loom factory. Preliminary police findings suggest the tragedy may have been triggered by financial distress. Sajid had reportedly asked his brother, Zahid, for money to fund a honeymoon trip. When Zahid advised him to wait a few days, Sajid became emotionally distraught.
According to police, Sajid made a final phone call to Zahid while standing on the tracks. Despite his brother’s desperate pleas to stop, Sajid ended the call and lay down beside his wife, moments before the train passed.
Authorities have initiated a thorough investigation to uncover the full circumstances behind the incident.
