TEHRAN: Iranian authorities have successfully rescued 10 Pakistani nationals who were being held captive by a human trafficking gang that had lured them with false promises of illegal passage to Europe.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Mudassar Tipu, expressed profound gratitude to the Iranian government and law enforcement agencies for their swift and decisive action. “The timely intervention by Iranian police saved several Pakistani families from what could have been a devastating tragedy,” the ambassador said in an official statement.
He added that the rescued individuals had been exploited by traffickers under the pretext of facilitating their journey to Europe. “This rescue operation highlights Iran’s firm stance against criminal networks involved in human trafficking,” Tipu noted.
The Pakistani Embassy in Tehran took custody of the victims on Sunday night and is currently providing full consular support — including shelter, food, medical care, and emotional assistance. Arrangements for their safe repatriation to Pakistan are underway.
Ambassador Tipu also described the ordeal the men endured as harrowing, mentioning “horrifying tales of assault, suffering, and deep emotional trauma.” He confirmed that members of the trafficking ring have been arrested by Iranian police.
In a strong public message, the ambassador urged Pakistanis to avoid illegal migration routes, stressing the dangers involved. “Please use legal and safe avenues to travel abroad. These criminal pathways often lead to tragedy and lifelong trauma,” he warned.
