LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: The first group of the Bangladesh cricket team, comprising ten players and support staff, arrived in Lahore late last night ahead of their three-match T20 International (T20I) series against Pakistan.
The remaining members of the squad are expected to join the contingent later tonight as the team begins final preparations for the upcoming series.
All three matches are scheduled to be played under lights at Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium. The series opener will take place on May 28, followed by the second match on May 30, and the final T20I on June 1 — all at the same venue.
Enhanced Security Measures in Place
In light of the series, the Government of Pakistan has implemented special security arrangements to ensure the safety of the visiting Bangladesh team. The Pakistan Army and Civil Armed Forces have been deployed, following orders issued by the Ministry of Interior.
These measures were authorized through a federal cabinet decision, with the army tasked with security responsibilities under Article 245 of the Constitution. The Civil Armed Forces, meanwhile, will operate under provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had formally requested comprehensive security protocols for the series. In response, the government acted swiftly to coordinate protection for the visiting team.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi secured final approval for the series during a recent meeting with Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials in Dubai, ensuring all necessary arrangements were in place ahead of the team’s arrival.
