Babusar Top Route
The National Highway Authority (NHA) has announced the early opening of the Babusar Top highway this year, following directives from the Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan. Traditionally, the Babusar Top route is opened in July after the winter snow and glaciers have melted sufficiently.
However, this year, thanks to proactive measures and early clearance of obstacles, the highway has been made accessible approximately one month earlier than usual, marking a significant milestone for the regionโs tourism and connectivity.
According to an NHA spokesperson, the early reopening of the Babusar Top road was made possible due to the dedicated efforts of the ministry and highway workers who cleared heavy glaciers and other impediments well ahead of schedule. This has allowed tourists and locals alike to travel to Babusar Top and beyond without facing the usual seasonal delays.
The spokesperson emphasized that this timely restoration reflects the governmentโs commitment to improving infrastructure and providing enhanced facilities in Pakistanโs northern mountainous areas.
The opening of the highway earlier than expected is set to bring multiple benefits. One key advantage is the reduction of travel time to Gilgit-Baltistan by an estimated five hours. This improvement will significantly ease journeys for tourists eager to explore the scenic beauty of northern Pakistan as well as for local residents who depend on these routes for their daily commutes and transportation needs.
Moreover, the early accessibility of Babusar Top will facilitate smoother and more efficient travel to popular destinations like Kaghan Valley and Naran, regions that rely heavily on tourism for economic growth.
This announcement coincides with the successful restoration of the Kaghan-Naran Highway, further bolstering the governmentโs efforts to enhance connectivity and promote tourism in northern Pakistan.
The NHA has also assured travelers that maintenance and safety measures will be rigorously upheld throughout the tourist season to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for all road users.
Tourists and local travelers are encouraged to take advantage of the improved and earlier access to these stunning mountainous routes, which promise to offer breathtaking landscapes and a memorable travel experience.
The governmentโs focus on early restoration and upkeep of key highways signals a positive step toward boosting regional tourism and supporting the local economy.
