The US State Department announced on Monday that it is enforcing visa restrictions on individuals associated with India-based travel agencies accused of knowingly aiding illegal migration to the United States.
According to department spokesperson Tammy Bruce, an undisclosed number of individuals affiliated with these agencies are being sanctioned under the Immigration and Nationality Act. The decision is based on intelligence collected by the US mission in India.
While the names and exact numbers remain confidential—as is standard practice in such cases—Bruce emphasized the administration’s ongoing commitment to disrupting illegal migration channels. “We will continue to take steps to impose visa restrictions against owners, executives, and senior officials of travel agencies to cut off alien smuggling networks,” she said, without providing specific examples of the agencies’ alleged activities.
This action aligns with broader US efforts under President Donald Trump to curb both legal and illegal immigration and increase deportations of undocumented individuals already residing in the country.
The US Embassy in New Delhi has also issued repeated warnings via social media, advising Indian travelers not to exceed their authorized stay in the United States. Those who do, it cautions, risk deportation and a permanent entry ban.
