Operation Bunyan Marsoos
NEW DELHI: The Indian Army spokesperson, Colonel Sofia Quraishi, acknowledged on Saturday that several key Indian airbases sustained significant damage during Pakistan’s ongoing military operation, โBunyan Marsoos.โ This military response follows what Pakistan has described as a series of aggressive actions by India along the Line of Control (LoC).
During a press briefing held by Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Colonel Quraishi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh confirmed the damage inflicted on Indian military installations in Punjab.
Colonel Quraishi stated that the Pakistani military targeted multiple airbases, including Udhampur, Bhuj, Pathankot, and Bathinda, using a combination of high-speed missiles, drones, long-range weapons, loitering munitions, and fighter jets. According to Quraishi, the Pakistani forces launched the missile strikes at approximately 1:40 AM, aimed specifically at airbase stations in Punjab.
โPakistanโs army has used a variety of weapons to attack Indiaโs military sites. We neutralized many threats, but they attempted to infiltrate through the air at over 26 locations, damaging equipment and personnel at key air force bases,โ Quraishi explained. This strategic assault follows Pakistanโs retaliation after Indiaโs missile strikes against its territory earlier this week.
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh further elaborated on the military situation, reporting that the offensive on the Western Front continued. She noted that Pakistani forces targeted 26 different locations, from Srinagar to Chhalliya, resulting in damage to critical infrastructure, including the airbases in Udhampur, Adampur, Pathankot, and Bathinda.
Despite the damages, Singh denied claims made by Pakistan regarding the destruction of Indiaโs S-400 missile defense system and airfields in Surat and Sirsa.
Colonel Quraishi emphasized Indiaโs commitment to preventing further escalation, stating, โIndia does not wish to prolong this conflict. If Pakistan agrees to de-escalate, we are prepared to stand down.โ
On the Pakistani side, Operation Bunyan Marsoos continues to target Indian military infrastructure. Radio Pakistan reported that Pakistani forces had destroyed the BrahMos missile storage site in Beas and inflicted damage on an airbase at Udhampur and an airfield at Pathankot.
The operation specifically targets those bases used in Indian attacks against Pakistani civilians and military facilities.
Furthermore, the Pakistani military has also destroyed the Brigade Headquarters at K G Top and a supply depot in Uri, severely impacting Indian military operations. These actions mark a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, heightening regional tensions and concerns over further violence.
