ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has temporarily halted flight operations at three major airportsโKarachi, Lahore, and Sialkotโdue to escalating tensions with India.
According to a statement from the PAA, all flights to and from Lahore and Sialkot will remain suspended until 12:00 PM today. The suspension has disrupted both domestic and international flight schedules, impacting thousands of travelers.
Passengers have been urged to contact their respective airlines for real-time updates on flight timings and potential delays.
The move follows a significant escalation in regional tensions after India conducted an overnight airstrike. In response, Major General Ahmed Sharif, Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), condemned the strike, calling it a cowardly act that resulted in the deaths of 31 Pakistani civilians and left 57 others injured.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the swift and decisive retaliation by Pakistanโs armed forces, stating they had turned “a dark night into a moonlit symbol of victory.” He applauded the militaryโs response as a demonstration of strength and national resolve in the face of aggression.
