ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation with Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, on Tuesday to discuss regional developments, including India’s recent unilateral and provocative actions against Pakistan.
According to official sources, Dar conveyed Pakistan’s serious concerns over India’s escalating measures, emphasizing that such actions violate international norms and pose a threat to regional peace and stability. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to peace while underscoring its resolve to defend national sovereignty.
During the call, Muttaqi commended Pakistan’s efforts to facilitate cross-border travel and streamline trade between the two nations. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the recent progress in bilateral ties, and Muttaqi reiterated his invitation for Dar to visit Afghanistan, extending warm wishes to the people and government of Pakistan.
Separately, in a statement on Monday, Dar stressed that while Pakistan seeks peace, it will respond decisively and proportionately to any act of aggression. “Our desire for peace must not be mistaken for weakness,” he said, reiterating Pakistan’s unwavering stance against terrorism in all its forms.
Dar also condemned the rise of Islamophobic rhetoric in India, particularly the targeting of Muslims and Kashmiris, and criticized India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it a blatant violation of international law and a serious threat to regional harmony.
