A wave of anti-Muslim violence and hate speech has erupted across India following the alleged false flag operation in Pahalgam, with Hindu extremist groups intensifying their rhetoric and attacks against the Muslim community.
Reports from multiple states — including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Uttarakhand — highlight a disturbing pattern of targeted assaults, threats, and incitement, often with tacit or open support from ruling BJP members.
In one chilling incident in Agra, a Muslim man was killed by an attacker who claimed it was an act of “revenge” for the Pahalgam attack. At least 21 incidents of hate crimes and inflammatory speeches have been reported since April 22.
The Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) has raised alarms over deliberate targeting of Muslim vendors and workers, especially in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. In Maharashtra, Minister Nitesh Rane publicly advocated for an economic boycott of Muslims, urging citizens to “buy only from Hindus.”
One particularly gruesome case involved the killing of a Muslim restaurant employee in Uttar Pradesh, where the perpetrators chillingly declared, “2,600 deaths in return for 26.”
Muslim students, particularly Kashmiris, are also facing intensified discrimination, being labelled “terrorists” on campuses and subjected to harassment in hostels. Muslim women have reported increased instances of verbal abuse and physical intimidation.
Human rights observers warn that the Pahalgam incident has been weaponized to justify a broader campaign of hate, fear, and exclusion, raising serious concerns over communal harmony and public safety as tensions continue to escalate.
