Pakistani actress Alizeh Shah has publicly addressed alarming rumours about her death and opened up about the emotional and physical toll relentless online trolling has taken on her life.
Best known for her performances in Ehd-e-Wafa, Ishq Tamasha, and Dil Moum Ka Dia, Alizeh has recently been in the spotlight not for her work, but for her silence and sudden disappearance from social media. The speculation intensified when she wiped her Instagram clean, leaving behind only a single cryptic post with the caption “I Quit,” and updated her bio to “Not Dead” — a pointed response to false death rumours that had grown so widespread, media outlets reportedly contacted her family for verification.
In a deeply personal statement released today, Alizeh revealed the severe impact that social media abuse has had on her well-being.
“The trolling, the constant criticism, the negativity — it didn’t just hurt me emotionally, it’s now affecting my physical health,” she wrote. “It reached a point where I had no choice but to isolate myself completely. I feel broken, exhausted, and overwhelmed in ways I can’t even explain.”
She recounted the trauma of her parents being contacted by media asking if she was alive, calling it a “cruel and heartbreaking invasion” of her family’s privacy. Alizeh urged the public and media to show empathy and stop reaching out to her loved ones.
While her message has been met with sympathy and support from many fans and mental health advocates, some corners of social media have continued to mock her vulnerability, highlighting the very issue she’s trying to escape.
Whether Alizeh Shah will return to the entertainment industry remains uncertain. However, her plea is clear and powerful:
