ZIARAT: Authorities recovered seven unidentified bodies on Tuesday from the Chutair Tangi area near Konchi Dam in Ziarat district, Balochistan, according to a report by ARY News.
The grim discovery was made after local residents spotted the bodies and alerted officials. Levies personnel and rescue teams were dispatched to the site and moved the bodies to a nearby hospital. An investigation has since been launched.
Speaking to the media, the Deputy Commissioner of Ziarat confirmed the incident, stating that the identities of the victims and the circumstances surrounding the killings remain unknown. “Facts will be confirmed once the investigation is complete,” he said, noting that authorities are actively working to identify the victims and uncover the motive behind the killings.
In response, outraged residents staged a protest and blocked the Ziarat-Chutair road, demanding swift action and accountability from the government.
This incident comes shortly after a Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) operation in Pishin, where nine suspected militants were killed in the Khanai Baba area, according to a CTD spokesperson. A large cache of weapons was recovered from the scene, and the militants were reportedly linked to violent activities in Balochistan.
In a separate operation in Dukki, law enforcement agencies, in coordination with the CTD, neutralized five militants on Dabar mountain. The suspects were said to be members of a banned outfit involved in attacks on coal mines, security personnel, and civilians.
Authorities continue to investigate the Ziarat killings amid heightened security operations across the province.
