Pakistan’s running community made a remarkable impression at the 129th Boston Marathon on Monday, with Amin Mukaty and Sara Lodhi emerging as the country’s top male and female finishers in the world-renowned race.
Amin Mukaty, a 23-year-old runner from Karachi who earned his spot through a qualifying time, completed the grueling course in an impressive 2 hours, 48 minutes, and 47 seconds. The Boston Marathon, famous for its demanding terrain and the infamous Heartbreak Hill, pushed athletes to their limits — but Mukaty took it in stride.
“Heartbreak Hill couldn’t break my heart,” Mukaty shared on Instagram. Reflecting on his performance, he added, “The Boston Marathon tested my limits, but I rose to the challenge. Proud to represent Pakistan on the world stage.”
Close on his heels was fellow Karachiite Abdul Rehman, who finished with a strong time of 2:51:13. “It was challenging with lots of hills, but I enjoyed it,” Rehman told Geo News. “I think it was my best run—better than how I ran in Berlin.”
Their performances mark a proud moment for Pakistan’s growing distance running community, showcasing talent and determination on one of the sport’s biggest international stages.
